What is Green laser marking and how does it work?

Green laser marking refers to the use of a laser with a specific wavelength to create permanent marks on surfaces. The Telesis EV4GDS is a green laser system that is diode-pumped, solid-state (DPSS) and fiber-coupled. This type of system allows operation in a demanding industrial environment (vibration, dust, shock) without easily degrading.

Materials where Green laser marking is used

  • Delicate and heat-sensitive materials, such as medical plastics, glass, and ceramics.
  • Precious and highly reflective metals, such as gold and copper
  • Materials with special coatings, anodized surfaces, lacquered surfaces, or thin layers
  • Silicon and semiconductors, ideal for microelectronics

Features of our Green laser

  • “Cold” marking: It produces relatively little thermal load on the material, which reduces warping, burning, heat-affected zones, or unwanted changes on the surface.
  • High-resolution micro-marking: With a high-quality beam, it allows detailed marking of information.
  • Surface color-change capability: On some materials, instead of removing or burning the material, the green laser can induce color changes on the surface to create legible marks without deep penetration.
  • Works on reflective materials: It can mark reflective metals such as copper, gold, and silver, sometimes achieving better results than lasers with longer wavelengths.

Applications where Green laser marking is used

Aplicaciones en donde se utiliza el marcaje láser Verde

Green laser is used in applications that require high precision, minimal thermal impact, and where traceability and aesthetics are critical, such as marking surgical instruments, engraving microchips, sensors and ceramic components, and working with reflective metal parts, among others.

Technological options offered by Green laser marking

  • IZONIT Vision Solutions: Allows viewing the position to be marked, increasing the accuracy of mark alignment.
  • Mark-on-the-Fly Technology: Enables marking of continuously moving parts.
  • Programmable Mounting Post: Keeps the laser head height stable, which is important for maintaining focus when marking parts of different heights or surfaces.

Frequently asked questions about Green laser marking

How does green laser marking help maximize productivity in your industrial processes?

Green laser marking is a high-precision technology that allows for better laser beam absorption on sensitive materials compared to other types of lasers.

  • When properly integrated into production processes, green laser marking directly impacts productivity, quality, and operating costs.
  • It generates high-contrast, high-definition marks, even on delicate materials. This makes it a highly efficient solution for industrial processes that require fine, legible markings without thermal damage, significantly reducing rejects, rework, and line downtime.
  • Green laser systems can be easily integrated into automated production lines, robotic cells, or in-line marking stations, enabling continuous and repeatable processes. This supports marking standardization and stable operation, even in high-volume production environments.
  • As a non-contact technology with no consumables, green laser marking eliminates costs associated with inks or labels.
  • Additionally, its industrial design reduces the need for frequent maintenance, contributing to a more efficient operation with a lower total cost.
